Reviewer Guideline
The journal Veterinary and Zootechnical Sciences (VZS) adopts the double-blind peer review system in the publication process. In this system, authors and referees conduct the evaluation process without seeing each other's identities. The refereeing process is extremely important in terms of ensuring quality, impartiality and reliability in scientific publishing.
• Referees must evaluate the article they are assigned to within the specified period.
• The scientific contribution, originality, methodological adequacy, ethical compliance and relation to the literature of the article must be taken into consideration.
• They must suggest revisions with constructive and explanatory comments when they deem necessary.
• They must use respectful, clear and constructive language in their comments; they must avoid personal expressions.
• If the article they receive is outside their field of expertise or if there is a conflict of interest, they must inform the editors and not accept the evaluation task.
• Referees are obliged to keep all information regarding the evaluated studies confidential.
• No data or findings related to the article can be shared, used or reproduced before the evaluation process is completed.
• Evaluation should be based solely on scientific competence, and personal judgments or prejudices should be avoided.
There are certain points that referees should pay attention to when making an evaluation.
It includes the scientific originality of the subject and its contribution to the field, the validity and appropriateness of the method, the accuracy and interpretation of the findings, the up-to-dateness and adequacy of the sources, ethical declaration and permission documents (if necessary), general writing language, academic style and structure.
Refereeing is an important duty that contributes to the academic community. VZS appreciates the devoted contributions of its referees and is committed to continuing this process in a transparent, reliable and academic ethical manner.
